Angry birds

The week before Halloween we went trick or treating at a neighborhood shopping center. Last year our mummy costumes won second place and this year the angry birds won 3rd place! We get a $50 gift card to trader joes. Wahoo!

Halloween is in the air

It is no surprise that Halloween is my favorite holiday. A holiday all about candy?! Sign me up.
Shelby and I decided to sport our Halloween digs.
We sure are cute.
Something else pretty great. Yesterday I was at target with Shelby and Mac. Shelby was crying in the ergo carriers, and Mac was being a crazy toddler. I had 4 women stop me and with a smile told me I was doing a good job, or that I looked good, or to hang in there. It was really pretty sweet of them. I must have had a frazzled look on my face but it was much appreciated.  Then today I listened to conference and it was just peace in my soul. What an amazing thing to listen twice a year to our prophet and apostles.

Halloween carnival

I spent more than 10 hours making our Halloween costumes this year and it was worth every minute! I took hundreds of pictures with our regular camera but haven't loaded them to the computer yet.
So phone pictures will have to do. We won the best family contest at the church party and last week the kids won seconds place in a town contest where they won a gift card to whole foods.

More face paint

Seriously, these girls live for face paint.

We went to a trick or treat activity in Napa and they had balloon animals, pictures, cupcakes, smoothies, candy, and face paint. All free which was also fabulous. I made them their mummy costumes and plan on making one's for rich and I. They are pretty cute.

Pumpkin patch

At the end of the fall festival we went to a pumpkin patch. We didn't buy any pumpkins, because grandma and grandpa have about 40, but we tried to see how much each kid would cost is if they were a pumpkin!

At one point Mac got stuck in the pumpkin hole and was pretty mad that I took a picture of him before pulling him out.

Fall festival

We took the kids to a fall festival today. It was nice and wore them out. There was a straw maze, heritage crafts, eco arts, native American village, horses, animals, hay ride, pumpkin patch, and lots more.

Pumpkin patch take 1

We took our first trip to the pumpkin patch today. It was a success and we even left without a pumpkin!

TRICK or Treat

Whenever we stumbled across decorations while we were trick or treating the girls made me take a picture with them.
Then we stopped by some friends' house and we played tricks on each other with this neat screwdriver headband.

Finally the girls got to pass out candy at their house. Ryann and Cara kept careful watch waiting for the kids to come to the door.

Costumes

Mac had quite the costume changes this year.
For actual Halloween we dressed him as Darth Vader and Rich would parade him around singing the song from Star Wars.
I think Rich had more fun this Halloween than Mac!
The girls also had costume changes. Ryann and Cara both tried on every princess dress we have to decide which one to wear... next year... NO PRINCESSES!

Okay, fine, they can be whatever they want to be, but the messes they made in the playroom were ridiculous.

Annual Halloween Party

Every year we do a pumpkin carving party. It has always been on a Saturday, but every year there are people who can't make it because Saturdays are hard. Now that I work on Saturdays I figured we should try another day, like an evening at the park.
Apparently Wednesdays are harder than Saturdays.
Lets just say it was an intimate affair :)
We had fun and carved pumpkins and I can't believe we didn't get a picture of all the pumpkins.
We had candy necklaces and prizes and face painting and everyone who came had fun!

Trunk or Treat

Saturday night we did a trunk or treat at the church.
Rich was excited to be there sporting his new jersey and football.

I went as Katniss and of course the girls went as Ariel and Cinderella.

I think the highlight of the night for the girls was the makeup and dancing!

Pumpkin Walk

Ryann's school had a Halloween "pumpkin walk"
We didn't carve a pumpkin for it because here in Arizona if you carve a pumpkin more than a couple days before Halloween then it rots.
We are saving our pumpkin carving for Wednesday.
Cara and Ryann went as princesses and Ryann "rode" her unicorn.
Baby Mac was Woody.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch and everyone had a blast.
Baby Mac was a good sport.

The kids cooperated for a lot of pictures.

I love me a smiling baby!
They had fun in the corn maze, the tractor ride, decorating pumpkins, and getting their faces painted.

Happy October!

I LOVE OCTOBER!
We originally "planned" to have baby Mac in October when we first started trying to get pregnant. That may or not have been because Halloween is my favorite holiday! Wahoo. It is the best because it is the start of the best time of the year. Halloween, then Thanksgiving then Christmas then New Years then BIRTHDAYS!
I guess I am getting ahead of myself. Anyway, here are some of our stuffed animals dressed up for the Halloween.
Like I said, I get a little excited for Halloween each year.
Happy October!
