Primary Program

Today is the primary program. Last year Ryann sang a song with the sunbeams, so this year is her first speaking part.
Her part is, "Many blessings we receive are consequences of making good choices."
We have it memorized, she dressed herself and did her own hair. I am so proud of her and excited for her today.

Saturday Naps

This was the best part of my Saturday.  We survived family pictures with getting up at 5am but nap time couldn't come soon enough.

What was I thinking?

We are taking family pictures tomorrow... my photographer has this "vision"

Sunrise

Now that it is 9:30pm and Cara still isn't asleep I am a little nervous for 5:30 to roll around.

Night Time Prayers

I asked the girls tonight to kneel for family prayers, and this is what I got.
In other news... yesterday Ryann kissed a boy at school named Charlie. She said she "forgot" that you aren't supposed to kiss people at school. She told me that she was his girlfriend. Supposedly she kissed him by the drinking fountain.

Today I asked her if she kissed him and she said, "nope, I remembered we don't kiss at school."

Mornings

I snapped this picture of Cara this morning. She isn't quite the morning person that Ryann and I are.
However, she sure perks up when she knows the camera is watching!
Her hair here is like "Brave", because it is red and wavy like the disney princess Merida from Brave.

Matching

Thursday is sharing day for Cara at preschool. She really wanted to share her Daisy Duck that her cousin Addison gave to her for her birthday. Then she wanted to match daisy so she picked out a purple dress and we were so lucky that Auntie Erin sent us a package with a purple bow... JUST LIKE DAISY!
Seriously it couldn't have been more perfect.  Cara was over the moon!
She also wanted to share her kangaroo, but I think we will have to wait until next week.
Seriously though, right now Cara's mind is just exploding. She comes running into my room in the morning and she has written an A. She is starting to learn some of Ryann's sight words, she finally is recognizing letters (not numbers yet), but also starting to know their sounds. I don't feel like Ryann ever had this "explosion" of learning and recognition that Cara is having. I will chalk it up to one of two things.  First being the amazing preschool she is now in and/or Ryann just played her learning a little cool. She wasn't so loud or vocal about everything she could do like Cara is.

Sneak Peak

Here is a quick sneak peak of the girls in their new headbands. I took lots of pictures for Auntie Erin, so I will post more of those later!
P.S. Happy Birthday Auntie Devyn!  We love you!!

Polka Dots and Plaid

Cara is learning about matching her clothes. Both this shirt and shorts had rainbow colors in them, so of course, "THEY MATCH!"
Just like any shirt with flowers goes with any pair of pants with flowers. Oh heavens. Ryann never cares about what matches. She just throws on clothes and goes. Cara has her own idea of matching and with her fiery attitude there isn't much you can do to change her mind. Except bribe her with candy. Which I am sure I have never ever done before....

Good Morning

Some mornings we make it out the door on time. Other mornings we rush out of the house eating our breakfast in order to catch the bus.
And sometimes when you are 5 you are stubborn and want to wear what you want to wear. Even if they are flower shorts that definitely don't match your minnie mouse shirt. Whatever.

Butts and Snowmen

First picture... Ryann told me she learned how to draw "butts" the rest of the person is so hastily done it was like an afterthought. She thought she was hysterical for drawing these.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we bring home a book from the library almost every week about "chicken butt" or "the Tushy book"
Here is my silly Cara Kay. She loves to eat sugar packets. Seriously though I used to eat these all the time at restaurants. I would try to hide the empty packet under my plate, but when the server came to get the plate I would always get caught.  Now Cara just dumps the packet out and says, "look, it is a snowman!" Then everyone laughs and she proceeds to lick up the sugar. Ugh gross.
But I guess I deserve it. Sorry mom and dad.

HairStyles

Cara is finally letting me do her hair. The trick is to go to the website www.babesinhairland.com , let Cara scroll through the pictures, and then she will pick one and let me do it.

Here was what we did on sunday. We made an "X" hair style. She loved it.

Headbands

This girl has NEVER worn headbands. However, I think the cuteness of them and peer pressure from girls at school have gotten to her. Yesterday she asked me if we could go buy her some headbands.

Seriously, who can resist that face? I went out and let her pick out 4. Now if she wants more she will have to smile that mug at aunties and grandmas.
We are now just working on how to wear a headband. The girl has to start somewhere.
By the way, tomorrow is picture day for this nugget... place your orders now!

Oh, and I must document for posterity, Ryann didn't get a recess today... she had a time out because she was pretending to be a fire alarm and her teacher asked her to stop and she didn't.

Moral of the story, next time you want to make an annoying sound, do it with a much quieter sound. Right?

Nebulizer

Here is my Cara Kay enjoying her nebulizer treatments. Her cough has gotten so much better, she still gets worked up when she gets super active and running around, but things are definitely on the upswing for her.

Flashback Friday

As I sit here and listen to Cara crying in her room because she "doesn't want to go to bed" I thought it would be a good idea to post some pictures of how cute she was when she was just 5 months old.

Look at that happy girl. Come on Cara Kay... go to sleep!
She fights sleep so much more than Ryann ever did/does. Ryann loves her sleep, just like her mommy!

Lip Gloss

Look at the smile on this cutie when she got her hands on some lip gloss.
By the way, lip gloss is essential when taking trips to the doctor. Totally keeps her occupied.
She got her flu shot today. And a nebulizer with albuterol because these "allergies" (as diagnosed last week at her doctors visit) are not getting any better with allergy medication.
She is happy though, clear lungs, no fevers, nothing else. Just a really tired mom and Cara because neither of us are getting sleep.
Oh yeah, and did I mention that whenever she starts getting worked up, like crying or running or jumping she starts coughing so hard she pukes?  She is doing that. So hopefully these nebulizer treatments will help.

Ham, Cheese, and Pickles

Ryann is a little ham some days. She loves to pose and play and show off.
A couple weeks ago we went out to dinner with Uncle Rob and Ryann enjoyed drinking most of daddy's milkshake.
He should know by now that nothing is sacred anymore... this munchkin will eat any sort of ice cream. Reminds me a little of Auntie Ashley.

Pump It Up Party

Seriously these parties are awesome.
The girls bounce and jump for 2 hours straights and then they fall asleep as soon as we get home.
Okay, so Ryann didn't fall asleep, but she chilled on the couch and watched a movie for a couple hours.

Happy birthday to our friend Brady!

Snow Cones

Friday night Rich promised the girls something fun for dinner because they were good at school and at the doctors office.
(they have had a cough for almost 2 weeks and the doctor says it is allergies, so they were started on singulair every night.)
After dinner we decided to take them down the street to get snow cones. They each got "princess flavor" which was quite delicious. But I don't know how sugar water could really not be delicious for little girls.
They thought it was more fun to pose for the camera than to actually eat the snow cones, but in the end they were able to do both.
Ryann's new favorite thing is to wear dresses... all the time... most of them are a little too short for her now so she is always wearing a pair of shorts underneath them. Usually they don't match and are totally random, but hey, I pick my battles.
I love their cute attitude and sass.
