Costumes

Mac had quite the costume changes this year.
For actual Halloween we dressed him as Darth Vader and Rich would parade him around singing the song from Star Wars.
I think Rich had more fun this Halloween than Mac!
The girls also had costume changes. Ryann and Cara both tried on every princess dress we have to decide which one to wear... next year... NO PRINCESSES!

Okay, fine, they can be whatever they want to be, but the messes they made in the playroom were ridiculous.

Annual Halloween Party

Every year we do a pumpkin carving party. It has always been on a Saturday, but every year there are people who can't make it because Saturdays are hard. Now that I work on Saturdays I figured we should try another day, like an evening at the park.
Apparently Wednesdays are harder than Saturdays.
Lets just say it was an intimate affair :)
We had fun and carved pumpkins and I can't believe we didn't get a picture of all the pumpkins.
We had candy necklaces and prizes and face painting and everyone who came had fun!

2 Peas in a Pod

These silly girls are two peas in a pod. How did they make the exact same poses for each picture?
I think they were just excited for their "princess makeup"
And the fact that they would get candy,
and popcorn, and get to dance and to see friends.
Not much better than Halloween!!

Antibiotics

I just have to post this, you know, for future references.
Mac is on antibiotics for his ear infections. This little guy is the BEST medicine taker I have ever seen. We squirt it into his mouth, he swallows, and doesn't cry.
Not sure how we got a kid that does this, but I will take it.

(It is bad enough to be the first of my kids to have an ear infection while breastfeeding, but thankfully he is feeling so much better now.)

He also started with Cara at Miss Mary's Daycare. This is where Ryann went, Cara went as a baby, and now we are back there and we think it is a good fit.

Trunk or Treat

Saturday night we did a trunk or treat at the church.
Rich was excited to be there sporting his new jersey and football.

I went as Katniss and of course the girls went as Ariel and Cinderella.

I think the highlight of the night for the girls was the makeup and dancing!

Pumpkin Walk

Ryann's school had a Halloween "pumpkin walk"
We didn't carve a pumpkin for it because here in Arizona if you carve a pumpkin more than a couple days before Halloween then it rots.
We are saving our pumpkin carving for Wednesday.
Cara and Ryann went as princesses and Ryann "rode" her unicorn.
Baby Mac was Woody.

3 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

This scene happened yesterday and it sure made me nervous that one would fall off and bonk their head...
Mac really enjoyed watching them and they sure had fun bouncing around and making him laugh.

We have ourselves a full blown thumb sucker :)
Also check out his bib (thanks Zach and Madeline!)
"Who put my cape on backwards?"

Bedtime routine

When the girls were getting ready for bed tonight I realized that Cara was wearing cousin Dean's PJs.
(I took this first picture and I realized that two little girls were playing with my phone today.)
(So I cleaned off the lens and camera and wowza, looks much better.)
My cute girls can't wait to visit with their cousins come thanksgiving time!

Mommy's Little Monkey

How come babies love their changing pads so much?
Maybe because they know they are going to get a clean bum?
Whatever the reason, it always seems to get Mac to calm down when he is upset.

Sweethearts

Baby Mac and Baby Linley spent some quality time together today.
We caught them holding hands. ;)

Bowling

A few weeks ago we went bowling with my office. It was my day off so I didn't want to go and leave Rich with all the kids, so the kids came with us.
We didn't get enough pictures, but here are a few typical ones.

Cara being nice and dramatic as she bowls. Superstar style.
And Rich taking a picture of himself with our group shot. Awesome.

Rich and I both wore our bowling shirts, had our own bowling balls, and our own bowling shoes. Thanks to my mom for the shirts and to Grandma Kevern for the bowling balls, bags, and shoes!

Sunday Best

Yesterday  Mac  wore a cute little sweater vest to church. I obviously needed to get pictures of it,  stop I did during play time.

Maybe Rich will let me buy him a  matching one?

Roll Over

Last night in bed Mac rolled over a couple times. So this morning I told the girls that Mac could roll over.
Imagine 2 little girls saying, "roll over, roll over Baby Mac" about 100 times.
This is what you get!

Yeah for baby Mac!
Ryann and Cara spent a good 3 minutes "showing him how" to roll over, then they told him to roll over and finally after some squirming he did it! After he did it we pulled out the camera. That was a bust. He just got annoyed with 2 parents, 2 sisters, and 2 cameras watching him and telling him to roll over.

The girls learned their "rolling over" skills from their cousins Rue and Harper (the puppies)

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch and everyone had a blast.
Baby Mac was a good sport.

The kids cooperated for a lot of pictures.

I love me a smiling baby!
They had fun in the corn maze, the tractor ride, decorating pumpkins, and getting their faces painted.

3 Months.

Happy 3 months old Mac!  I love you and your sweetness.
Here are the pictures I tried to take before bed.
It started out like this.
So I fed you, calmed you down, and we survived.
Actually you did quite well. This is the first time you don't look like a deer in headlights!

At 3 months you decided it would be fun to wake up again every 2 hours for the past 4 nights in a row. I am hoping growth spurt?
Before this crazy sleep changes you were sleeping from around 7pm to 2am and then up again for my alarm clock around 6. Really once a night which was wonderful. I am hoping you get back to that soon!
You are 13lbs 12oz.
You are full of smiles.
This month you started with a sitter. You go 2 1/2 days a week. Daddy watches you the other days and I am off another day for us to play.
You eat much more than your big sisters. Cara never really drank more than 4oz of milk at a time. EVER.
You are already eating 4-5oz each time you eat during the day, which means mom has to pump A LOT! I usually don't feel "behind" on my milk making skills until 6 months or so, but now I am desperately trying to do things to make sure I catch up to you.  I guess your waking up every 2 hours at night is trying to boost my supply?
I just checked the old blog to see how you are comparing to your big sisters at this age.
is the blog post from when Cara was 3 months old. She was already rolling over. Eh, I am sure that will happen some day soon since you are scooting around already when we are doing tummy time. Her nap schedule was about the same as yours (crappy!) but hopefully you will get into a good nap routine soon. For daddy and for the sitter.

You have also found your thumb and hardly take the pacifier anymore. Sometimes we will pull it out if you are struggling to fall asleep while we are holding you, but mostly you like to soothe yourself.

You still spit up a lot, some days a lot more than others, but you seem to be okay with that and you are still happy about it. You only poop every couple days (like Ryann), and you like showers with mom or dad way better than baths.

Gymnastics

Every Tuesday the girls go to gymnastics. It is so much fun to see how they improve over the months.
Ryann's favorite is climbing up the rope.
Cara loves to do "flips" and jump on the "jump"oline

Here they are in their cute gymnastics leotards. Both girls asked me for colored ones, because black is boring apparently. We'll see how that goes. Maybe for Christmas.

General Conference

Sometimes we watch conference and let the kids do whatever they want.  however,  yesterday I heard a talk that said not to underestimate the intelligence of your children and have them listen to conference.
 so I turned to pinterest.
I printed out a lot of conference coloring sheets.
And by the time 10:30  came around I sent them to take a bath and get out of  my hair.
( honesty  is important here.)
 at least I tried,  right?

where is that thumb?

Sometimes Mac  is able to find his thumb and he sucks on it.   Other times it is just too much work to find it,  so he sucks on his fist.

Happy October!

I LOVE OCTOBER!
We originally "planned" to have baby Mac in October when we first started trying to get pregnant. That may or not have been because Halloween is my favorite holiday! Wahoo. It is the best because it is the start of the best time of the year. Halloween, then Thanksgiving then Christmas then New Years then BIRTHDAYS!
I guess I am getting ahead of myself. Anyway, here are some of our stuffed animals dressed up for the Halloween.
Like I said, I get a little excited for Halloween each year.
Happy October!
