4 Weeks

You started losing your hair on top.
You have started with the cutest little gas smiles.
You have started to coo.
The girls love you more and more each day.
You hate going to bed at night, but will go to bed fine for naps during the day.
You have given me some 4 hour stretches at night. Thanks!

Novelty

I hope the newness and excitement of a little brother doesn't go away anytime soon.
I think Auntie Erin taught the girls this trick.
I do believe this little guy loves his sisters. So far he is very patient with them.
We also started to see lots of little gas smiles now!!

First Day of 1st Grade

This girl couldn't have been more excited for first grade. She picked out her clothes the night before and was dressed and ready to go before anyone else was awake.
She was excited that we all took her to the bus stop.

Baby Mac wasn't so sure about having 3 people push him in the stroller, but he survived.

Playing in the rain

A couple weeks ago we had a nice little monsoon sweep through the area. We let the girls go outside and play but the puddles didn't last very long. After spending about 30 minutes out there everything was dry. The girls did come into the house and ask if daddy could take some pictures. Of course I made him.

I love this progression of pictures. It is how Cara goes from happy and laughing to grumpy in 3 seconds.
I can't quite figure out how to get her to be in a better mood throughout the day (besides giving her everything she wants), and I think it is sleep related. She always wakes up between 545 and 630, but if I give her a nap then she doesn't go to bed until around 930 and still wakes up at her normal time. If I don't give her a nap she falls asleep right away but definitely acts like she needs a nap come 2 or 3pm. Maybe a nap every other day?
The face above is the face she makes when we tell her to be quiet or to stop crying or to stop doing whatever she is doing that is naughty.

I just realized they were wearing the exact same outfits as the previous post. Funny because they were taken a couple weeks apart.  Love my girls!

Harry Potter and Cakes

This blog has sort of been dedicated to Baby Mac lately, but I want to touch on what the girls and I have been doing lately. Every night at bedtime I have started to tell them the summary of each Harry Potter book. I try to break it up into 3 days or so to tell the story.

On Thursday we watched the first Harry Potter and it was fun, but Ryann thought that Voldemort was scary, so I don't know if we will watch any of the other movies. But they sure like listening to me tell the stories.

Then on Friday the girls said they wanted to make a cake. So we baked a cake then ran some errands and when we got back I made some frosting. Somehow the girls convinced me that they should be able to frost their own cakes. We were going to bring them to a friend's house to share, but after they finished frosting that wasn't going to happen.

We had lots of fun, and I ate some of the cakes too. We did end up throwing a lot of cake away, it was pretty soggy.

Little Swimmer

I got a cute little swimsuit for Mac when we were in Napa.

That swim session lasted about 2 minutes. The water was kind of cold.

p.s.  he hit the 10lb mark today!

3 Weeks Old

Baby Mac, you must have known that today you were turning 3 weeks old because you stayed awake from 1-4 am for a party!
You are eating well, spitting up about 75% of all feedings, and everything else seems to be working great. You eat all the time which means mommy is making a lot of milk so hopefully I will get a lot stored up before I have to leave in 3 weeks to go back to work.
While you were my biggest baby you have also been my easiest recovery. You did amazing on our road trip and you take a bottle like a champ.
You don't like to sleep anywhere except our arms. (Duh! What baby likes to sleep alone?)
You are a mamma's boy and very slowly starting to tolerate your daddy.
Your eyes are still blue and your hair is still brown.
You like your cloth diapers so far and aren't fitting into newborn clothes anymore.
You fall asleep every time we get in the car.
You like your pacifier but sucking on your arm or fist will do in a pinch.
Your sisters look for you first thing in the morning and wont go to bed without kissing you goodnight.
You hate bath time, which happens at least once a day to get spit up out of your ear, hair, neck, face, body, etc.
You have three faces that you make.  The feed me I am hungry face, the grumpy face, and the content face. Not very many gas smiles for you yet.

It sure seems like it has been longer than 3 weeks, but maybe that is because we knew you before you were born and you just fit so perfect in our family. We love you baby Mac.

Newborn previews

We had newborn pictures taken when Baby Mac was 9 days old. I have seen some of the previews and I can't handle how amazing they are. I don't want to ruin the surprise of the newborn announcement just yet (are you getting ready Mallory to make me an announcement?) But here is just a snippet of the amazing pictures.

Check out my photographer in Phoenix at http://www.poshcreative.com/

Okay, fine, just this one more of Daddy and his baby boy.

How do they compare?

Ryann had a skinnier face than Cara and her hair was more blonde.
Cara had a more "filled out look" (or so I thought) and slightly red hair
Mac with his chubby cheeks and brown hair.
It looks for now that they all have the same nose and lips and hair line (widows peak). It also looks like they will all have blue eyes even though I know it is too early to tell for sure with Mac.

We weighed Mac this morning and he is 9lbs 13.5oz. My big boy is growing.

Swimming at Grandma Great's

While in Napa we visited with Grandma and Grandpa Great. Mac enjoyed his time being snuggled.
Ryann enjoyed the diving board and cannon balls!

Neither girl would let me put their hair in a pony tail this trip, and I really didn't have the hands to do it anyway, so the enjoyed hair in their faces the entire time we went swimming.
